Literature Text

I know your broken body is tired.

They used to tell you
when one chapter ends in the story of your life,
another one begins.

Well, you're down to the last few pages of
your chapter, you scream,
and you want a refund because this book
doesn't come with any more.

The outlines of your bones are more prominent now
jutting out angrily against your
tissue paper skin.

Please don't cry, you smile,
because someone has to be the strong one.
I love you, you whisper,
please don't be afraid to be happy without me.

I know your broken body is tired,
so go to sleep, love.
Go to sleep.
This one's for you, love.
I miss you more and more every day.

It's kind of sad, how all these important people are taken away from us.
It's kind of ironic, that I just wrote a piece for someone I loved who has gone away.
It's kind of cheesy, but I want to say I'm sorry for your loss, and I mean it.
